FICTION
Blame It on the Wind
— FLASH FICTION by Nasser Alshaikhahmed
(Translated from Arabic)
Looking at the sky while the sun was preparing to fade into the twilight with red tears filling out the details of that day. She remembered the day the fleet returned, the squad of the returning gulls. From the resurrection that occurred in the middle of the day, surprisingly, and among them there was not the face of her lover.
Heart was burning with grief, absent-minded staring above. The bitterness of the tear in her eyeballs was a fire cooked and the moaning softly yearning in her heart. Boundaries with the earth looked clay and water flaccid, swallowing her heavily grieved feet. His picture reappeared to her in the last scene, which brought them together; that late afternoon when he handed her his watch with a smile,, telling her, we shall meet when I return from sailing.
She realized by then it was absence, nothing but the eternal separation, she yelled hysterically and excessively and went on to blame it on the wind of plating a conspiracy against their love and cursing the roads with a pain in her heart.
