SUBMISSIONS
We welcome submissions of translations of unrepresented, underrepresented and marginalized languages from around the world. The translation of your work may be in any style, format, or subject unless itโs a themed submission. We simply want to see get your due place through your best work. So, surprise the world, move the world, expand worldโs understanding and knowledge of art & literature. Remind the world what a great art of fiction you have and what your art can do. We look for arresting imagery, polished language, emotional impact, and lyricism without pretension in the poetry. If youโre interested in submitting translations of short stories, flash fiction or poetry toย the LINGO LEXICON, please read the following guidelines carefully.
- All submissions must be in English translation and must be previously unpublished.
- All submissions should be made through our online submission form. This helps us keep track of the submissions we receive as efficiently as possible. Please donโt post us anything via e-mail, as it wonโt reach the right and relevant people.
- Please send only one submission at a time per category, and wait until you hear back from us before uploading a new submission. We are eager to provide an ample time and space for everyoneโs voices to be considered, so if you do send multiple submissions, they will be archived unread and will receive no response.
- Entries must be made by the author / poet him / herself. Translators may also submit as long as permissions have been obtained from the author / poet. Such translation submissions should be accompanied by an NOC from the fiction writer / poet of the Source Language. Only one entry be made at a time. Self-translations are also acceptable.
- Entries will only be accepted via the online submission form.
- Please use easy-to-read, standard fonts of Arial or Times New Roman with 12 point font in double line spacing and page numbers and word count. Upload your file as PDF and/or Microsoft Office Word document, with the title of the story as the file name on the submission page in the relevant tab.
- Include a cover letter with your submission, giving the following details:
- Donโt sweat but a precise and comprehensive context about author and translator, and their work. A 25-100 words authorโs bio in third person. It can be about anything: place of birth, state of residence, education, publication(s), history, current occupation, hobbies/interests, etc.
- Indicate if this is simultaneous submission (meaning if the piece of work is โ or will soon be โ under consideration with other magazines / journals. Simultaneous submissions are allowed as long as we are notified immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere through the โMessagesโ tab in your submission on info@theLingoLexicon.com right away.
- If you have been published by us before, please wait a full calendar year before submitting to us again.
- If your submission involves collaboration with another translator, please include his / their name(s) and 20-25 words bio as well.
- Requests the contributors to take issues of copyright infringement PLAGIARISM or other breaches in publication seriously.
- Contributors should take permission from copy right holders reproducing any illustration, tables, figures or quotations previously published elsewhere.
- If your work contains violence, sexual or mental abuse, sexual assault, etc., please put a content warning or trigger warning above that specific piece โ we would just like little warning. Abusive pieces written from an obviously positive perspective will be rejected at once.
- SHORT STORY / FLASH FICTION SUBMISSION GUIDE LINES
- The translation must be between 2,000 and 7,000 words maximum (not including, names of the author, translator, title and name of the Source Language). The excerpts of novels are also acceptable, preferably within this limit of words. So, please be advised that the manuscripts should not exceed this length as it may cause ineligibility.
- The author and translatorโs names and name of the Source Language should also appear on top of the submission itself.
- POETRY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- All translations must be of poems of extraordinary in vision, craft, integrity and originality. Poems of any length and form are welcome. Maximum three (03) poems and must not exceed six (06) pages per submission, please. If more than three (03) poems are submitted, only the first three (03) will be read. So, please be advised that the manuscripts should not exceed these numbers and length as this may cause ineligibility. The submission should be accompanied by a copy of the original poems.
- Please ensure poetโs and translatorโs names are included at the top each poem, and that punctuation and capitalization is consistent within poem. File must be prepared in this way: add one poem, add a page break, add your second poem, add a page break, and so on. This is how you submit multiple poems in one file.
SUBMISSION FEE
We charge a $05 for each submission. This helps us with our running costs on no profit no loss basis (we do not receive any external funding), and allows us to devote more time and attention to the submissions we receive. It also enables us to work faster. Payments can be made at the time of submissions via credit card.
PAYMENTS
Initially, we are paying nothing for the stories we publish. However, we will start paying a reasonable honorarium to the Contributors, which shall likely to be raised when weโll be established on firm footings.
The stories we publish will be eligible to enter the International Awards.
PERIOD OF SUBMISSIONS
We receive submissions round the year and publish them as soon as approved by the editors.
RESPOND TIME

RIGHTS
We ask for first serial rights on any story we publish. This means the story should not have appeared anywhere else, either in print or online (which includes publication on an authorโs own website). When we publish a story we as for a brief period of exclusivity (usually six months), right to keep the story in print as a part of the anthology. We do not ask for the more rights than we need to produce our anthologies, or place any limits on what you can do with your story after the exclusivity period. Copyrights always remains with the author.
