He told her that he loved her, that he would wait for her all his life, that he was in love with her and that there was alchemy between them. Yet, often, as if under the influence of the moon, he changed his idea. He was like scales, never in balance, leaning to one side and then the other. She suffered with it, but then she got used to his sudden second thoughts and to the alternation of his gentle ways with his brusque ones, which sometimes bordered on violence.
After many years of this unlimited giving of herself to her man, one fine day she felt her heart lighter. It was as if it had suddenly emptied out. She was tired of giving love to that arid man and never receiving it with the same enthusiasm. She knew that he had always treated her badly. She had realised that she no longer loved that man with that overwhelming feeling that brought her back, as if she were a boomerang, every time, always and only to him. For years she had been like a boat at the mercy of the sea and looking for a landing place. She had been shipwrecked in the raging waves of their love. Now that she had found her course again, she had set her sails to the wind, to embark on a new journey with herself.

Concetta La Placa is an international poet, writer and aphorist. She was born in Sicily, Italy.She has worked in Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. She has published her poems and various short stories, some of which are also dedicated to children, in numerous prestigious anthologies of various national and international contemporary authors. Her collections of poetry include: Amore Cosmico (Cosmic Love) (2020), Tracimi Del Cuore (Pagine, Rome, 2022), Emozioni Fluttuanti (Vitale, Sanremo, 2023), Emozioni, Amore, Ricordi in Sicilia in Versi (Vitale, Sanremo, 2024), Versi di Pace, Amore, Fede e Libertà (Vitale, Sanremo, 2024) and Poesia Dedicata a… (Vitale, Sanremo, 2024). Concetta La Placa is an ambassador for culture and peace of FICH and is a member of the European RRM3 of George Onsy. She is a poet of Las Cartas De Paz Mundial.
