Charismatic Amulet
โFLASH FICTION by Naheed Gul
(Tanslated from Urdu by Najam-uddin Ahmad)
A
large number of devoted women had been visiting and going out of the threshold
of the Pir Jiโs (abbotโs) spiritual hospice. His amulet carried the miraculous
powers to lead the husbands to the right path to be faithful with their wives
within days.
Women,
who were victims of their husbandsโ infidelity, were offering green and blue
currency notes in exchange for the miraculous amulets.
A woman, wrapped in a black cloak,
extended a piece of paper towards the Pir Ji instead of currency notes. As soon
as he read it, the charismatic amulet fell down at the feet of his divorced
daughter from the hands of the Pir Ji.
