When the birds of the past
Hoarsely scream,
Beating ominously
From wings spread
Like treacherous traps,
I lay at the gate of my soul
The petals of forgetfulness
Over the spasms of forgiveness
Discolored by time,
Dissolved in sobs.
I bind in a sheaf the questions
That have been reaping
The meadow of my thoughts,
I warm with the breeze
The thighs of the false sideburns
And shake off the lint of the mists
Robbed of color and meaning.
Under the soles of fate
The rumors go numb,
Settling
Over the slime of time,
Learning,
The score of eternal silence.
