I โ The Poet
โ POEM by
Barbara Gramza
(Translated from Polish)
I am not just a woman with ink
on her hands and dreamsโI am the source
from which radiance and confusion spring,
when the world stumbles over its own words.
I am a voice that pierces the glass of silence,
A phoenix wing over the fire of everyday life,
An arm that does not retreat in the darkness,
For the word is a shield in the kingdom of freedom.
I sow verses like seeds in the desert,
Until a garden of meaning blossoms from them,
And my nameโthough silentโwill remain
on the paper where silence changes.
Do not ask me who I truly am,
When I write, I become myself fully.
I โ the poet. I carry the word like a flame,
Even when the world is dark and sleepy.
โฆ.
