Gone Silently
— POEM by
Fiana Winata
(Translated from Indonesian)
No sign,
Even with the pain you endured,
It seemed normal,
And now you left everything behind.
You return home when Takbir echoes,
Excitement of Eid al-Fitr is always deep with the dishes on the table,
The most champion dish,
Even the one I waited for my whole life.
That morning my whole body was powerless,
When I heard the news that you were gone,
Without a message and without a story,
You have returned with Him to the Creator,
Perhaps your longing for him is too deep.
A soul mate who has long been gone,
Perhaps last night you shared a laugh,
Tell me about a longing that will never end, consumed by time,
Until you are too happy,
And forget to return to the world.
