Fire in the Chaff
— POEM by
Fiana Winata
(Translated from Indonesian)
The scratches of the heart talk again,
In the old wound that has opened again,
I’ve tried to forget everything,
But nature never blesses it,
It seems to say that evil must perish,
It’s time.
The glimmer of the extinguished light,
Sincerity is considered non-existent,
Trust that no longer protects,
Then the sweat that is considered a stain,
All vanishes in an instant.
Want to struggle and tear the universe apart,
But what can I do, this weak body has no power,
The father who is still suffering,
Covering a hunger that never goes away,
Hoping everything will be beautiful in time,
But hope is eroded by humiliation.
Even though lies are covered in laughter,
And sincerity that falls helplessly,
He still triumphs,
Chewing on his brother’s flesh,
Laughing at the weakness behind his power,
And cheering that all this is a lie.
