The Grauballeman
— POEM by Poul Lynggaard Damgaard
(Translated from Danish by Rikke Kirchheiner )
The Grauballeman
and I have distanced ourselves from each other,
but we have also come closer to each other.
It doesn’t matter where we come from.
I have branches in defense
of the hillside.
Nights
and days
have ended.
Let him in.
We are not just cattle to each other.
The skin of the scars has healed like soles.
The rotten fruit’s
Bronze Age shoes
in the staue blue pants.
Blessed
waiting.
