No One but You
— POEM by
Dr. Amb. Aziz Mountassir
(Translated from Arabic by Dr. Neide Romani Covre)
Who could ever mirror your light, my love,
When you are the essence of all things above?
Not just a whisper of fate’s gentle grace,
But the echo of heaven carved in your face.
I found in your eyes the tale of my soul,
A story unwritten, yet making me whole.
Each glance a promise, each blink a vow,
Time bends before you, surrendering now.
Your voice, my compass, my soft guiding star,
Pulls me through darkness, no matter how far.
Every syllable drips like honey divine,
Coating my spirit, making it shine.
If longing were oceans, your eyes are the tide,
Sweeping me under, where passion won’t hide.
No anchor, no rescue—I choose to descend,
For love in your depths is where I begin… and where I will end.
My love and my longing walk the same shore,
Bound to your heart—I ask for no more.
You are the path, the journey, the goal,
The reason my body still houses a soul.
No distance, no silence, no time in between,
Could shatter the bond that fate has foreseen.
You are my forever, my breath, my prayer,
My world, my refuge, my answer, my air.
So tell me, my love, who could ever be,
More sacred than you, more destined to me?
No one, my darling, for all that I seek,
Is bound in your heartbeat—silent, yet deep.
