Africa, Africa, Africa of valiant warriors in ancient Savannahs,
My granny sings about Africa, Although I have never met you,
Your blood is present in my veins on the banks of that far-off river.

Your gorgeous,
Dark blood that nourishes the crops,
The blood of your perspiration,
And servitude.
Tell me about Africa,

A bowed back?
That buckles under the pressure of shame,
Red scarred and trembling back.

The whip beneath the hot sun,
A somber voice responds to me,
Impulsive youngster,
Robust and youthful.

Magnificently by itself,
Among the faded white blooms
Africa emerging once more,
As my humbled continent.
